We carry out each legionella risk assessment Fareham businesses and landlords book with us using engineers who can also do the plumbing. That covers Fareham itself, Gosport, Whiteley and the waterside villages in between. So if we find a tank that needs cleaning or a dead leg that needs cutting out, we can deal with it ourselves.
We’re based in Poole, just over the Dorset border, and drive across along the M27. As a result, most visits can still be booked within the same week.
Business parks and industrial units
Segensworth, Whiteley and the estates around Fareham town are full of units with small but easily forgotten water systems. For example, a warehouse might have a welfare shower that nobody has used in months. Meanwhile, an office suite may have an instant water heater under the sink, plus a toilet on the top floor that hardly gets flushed.
If you employ people there, you’re responsible for assessing and controlling that risk, as well as keeping a record. On a legionella risk assessment Fareham visit, we survey every outlet, take hot and cold temperatures, then give you a prioritised plan you can actually follow. When you run several units, just ask for a single fixed quote.
Rented homes in Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent
Gosport has long naval and defence links, and plenty of homes there are let to people who move on with their jobs. Because tenants change often, the water system can see gaps between lets. That’s a good moment to review, since a long empty spell lets water stagnate.
For a house, flat or single let, our assessment starts at £59.99 + VAT. If you manage several homes, see our landlords and letting agents page for portfolio pricing.
Marinas, sailing clubs and waterside property
Clubs and marinas around Hamble, Warsash and Portchester tend to have shower blocks that are packed in summer and quiet all winter. However, Legionella doesn’t take the winter off. Water left standing in warm changing rooms, or in shower heads furred with scale, gives bacteria the conditions they like.
Before the season, we can flush and recommission the system, then descale or replace shower heads. In addition, we can set up temperature monitoring so you have a record through the busy months.
Legionella risk assessment Fareham: what your report shows
Within three working days of the visit, you receive a written report that includes:
- an outlet register listing every tap, shower and appliance we found
- hot and cold temperature readings at each outlet
- an overall risk rating for the building
- a prioritised action plan, so you know what to fix first
- schematic drawings for HMOs and commercial sites, if you ask
Our survey method comes from HSG274 and the L8 Approved Code of Practice. HSE doesn’t fix a renewal date, although it expects you to revisit it from time to time and whenever the building changes. You can read more on our main legionella risk assessment page.
Care homes, dental surgeries and medical practices
Healthcare buildings carry a higher risk, since residents and patients may be more vulnerable to infection. So when a legionella risk assessment Fareham practices book is for a healthcare site, we work to HTM 04-01 alongside L8. That includes checking thermostatic mixing valves, which protect people from scalding but can sit in the warm range if they aren’t serviced.
Need proof? We can take water samples for a UKAS-accredited laboratory, which normally reports back within 7 to 10 days. Find out more on our testing page.
Fixing what we find
Tanks
We empty, clean and disinfect cold water storage tanks, then fit proper lids and insect screens.
Pipework
We remove dead legs, so no stretch of pipe is left holding stale water.
Hot water and TMVs
We reset cylinder and boiler temperatures where they’re too low, and also service or fit TMVs.
There’s a full list on our remedial works page.

Questions from Fareham and Gosport
Our sailing club showers are only used in summer. What do you suggest?
First, book the assessment before the season, so we can see the system as it stands after winter. Then we can flush and recommission the showers, descale the heads and check temperatures. If the plan calls for it, we can also set up regular monitoring, so you have a record ready if anyone asks how you manage the risk.
Do you work to HTM 04-01 for dental and GP practices?
Yes. For healthcare premises, we work to HTM 04-01 as well as the HSE Approved Code of Practice L8. In practice, that means closer attention to TMVs, little-used outlets and hot water temperatures. We can also take samples for a UKAS-accredited laboratory if you need test results on file.
Can you quote for several units on one business park?
Of course. Tell us how many units there are and roughly what water each one has, such as kitchens, toilets and showers. Then we’ll give you a fixed price for the lot before we visit. There’s no call-out fee and no hidden extras, even if the units are spread across different estates.
We had an assessment years ago. Is it still valid?
HSE doesn’t set a fixed expiry date. Instead, it expects you to keep the assessment under review, especially after changes. For example, new plumbing, a change of use or a long empty spell are all reasons to look again. If yours is old or the building has changed, a fresh survey is usually the simplest answer.
